Sample Cleanse Menu

The purpose of the cleanse is to eliminate any foods that are common allergens such as wheat, dairy, soy, corn, etc. and any toxic foods…and by toxic, I mean toxic to the liver. The cleanse is mean to detoxify the liver and give the body’s digestive system a vacation.
So what am I eating?
During week 1, I’ve eliminated all of the common allergens, any processed foods or condiments and the big 3… caffeine, alcohol and sugar. I couldn’t believe how many packaged foods from the grocery store contained added sugar, wheat and/or soy additives…. ridiculous!
The program came with a protein/vitamin powder and a liver detox supplement that I take for breakfast. I blend up the powder into a smoothie, which tastes pretty good and keeps me full for a good 5 hours. I add raw (gluten-free) oats, unsweetened almond or coconut milk, followed by the powder, frozen fruit and blend away. I make the smoothie on the thick side so I can pour into a bowl, top with Kath’s homemade buckwheat granola and eat with a spoon. It takes a lot longer to eat and is more satisfying to me.
For lunch I make a giant salad with spinach, cucumber, carrot, chickpeas and Mama Pea’s mmm sauce (seriously mmm!)
I also pack an afternoon snack with me to take to work and lately I’ve been loving these brown rice cakes topped with homemade vanilla cinnamon almond butter and fresh raspberries. It provided the crunch I’m craving and also the sweet without the added sugar.
Dinner is pretty easy…we usually get some type of protein and add a side dish. My favorite this week was the wild Alaskan salmon with Angela’s asparagus potato salad. This is the second time we’ve made the potato salad this week…and have the ingredients on hand for a 3rd and 4th time! It’s so so good!
I’m a little worried about next week when we up the servings of protein powder to 2x per day and eliminate meat and legumes in addition to the other things already eliminated! Thankfully we get to add them back in for week 3. Beyond week 3, I hope to figure out if I have any food intolerances….it should be interesting!

Yum, your food looks great. I am definitely going to try that asparagus potato salad!
Cleanse or not, your food looks amazing! Smoothies in a bowl are so much fun to eat and you’re right, are totally more satisfyinig because they take much longer to eat.
