It’s a Beautiful Day

Yes…U2 performed here this weekend, and no I didn’t go, but I heard it was an absolutely amazing show!
This past weekend was the most beautiful weekend we’ve had in Seattle in the past 7 months…that’s right, SEVEN MONTHS! As the temperature rose past 70 degrees I could feel the anticipation of getting outside and into the sunshine to take in all that Seattle has to offer, including the most gorgeous views of the beautiful Mt. Rainier.
This photo really does not do it’s beauty justice!
Mickey and I decided we would spend our Saturday hiking Rattlesnake Ledge along the I-90 corridor. We like to start out the summer hiking season with an “easy hike” (according to Washington Trails Association!) This hike is considered easy compared to most other WA hikes…but is NOT easy compared to anything you would find in the midwest where I am from;)
We hiked the 1.9 miles in about an hour and probably could have kept going up East Peak. The trails were nicely groomed and I felt like I was on a movie set. Everything looked so perfect!
Mickey led the way as we passed lot’s of families, dogs and hikers of all ages. The trail was supah busy, which was expected (see above: nicest weekend in 7 MONTHS!) The view from the top did not disappoint!
I love when there is still snow on the mountain tops!

We trekked back down the trail and landed on the big grassy park by Rattlesnake Lake for a Trader Joe’s picnic. We grazed on strawberries, brow rice tortillas, hummus and rosemary apricot chicken salad and some carrot juice, hit.the.spot!
We also soaked in some sun and played…what’s a nature adventure without a yoga pose or two;)
Uneven ground = weird bent arm! And yes, that is my see-through Seattle skin blinding you in this photo!
The rest of the weekend included cooking, Riverdance, yoga at Lululemon (which was AWESOME!) and dinner out with friends. I’m also starting a 21-day detox program…details to come!

What a fun day! And your pictures were beatuiful!! Way to yoga in the middle of your hike! I love this.
I love Rattlesnake Ledge! A couple of years ago we saw a mountain goat up there, so now I look for him every time we go.
